Reading: We will also be testing the story: “A Tiger Cub Grows Up.” We will be discussing the characters and the setting for each story. Vocabulary – cub, eyes, learn, enough, air, wild, across, paws, jaws, and grow. (Tested on April 5th) Your child will need to be able to read these words and put them in sentences.

Math: We will be working testing on adding and subtracting two digit numbers. We will also be doing hands-on activities working with two digit numbers. Vocabulary- tens, ones, add, subtract, difference, digit, and sum.

Writing: We will review capital letters to start sentences and punctuation to end them. We are starting to add more details to our sentences. We are also working on writing longer paragraphs with adjectives.

Science: We will be finishing and testing on living and nonliving things. We will be starting living things and their parents. Vocabulary- food, water, shelter, space, living, parent, trait and nonliving.

Spelling: We will have a Spelling test on March 28th on the following words: degree, sightsee, knee, bee, three, seals, stream, dream, fleas, and healing. They will have Spelling test on Friday April 5th on the following words: bunny, very, penny, family, hazy, mummy, shy, my, cry, and by.

Social Studies: We will be talking about good and services. Vocabulary – goods, services, workers, and consumers.

Homework: On Thursday before the Spelling Test they are to write their words 4 times each. Your child may also have math homework. Also, they will be bringing home books for the Read to Succeed Program and be responsible for reading at home and bringing the books back to school each day. The Read to Succeed Program is a combination of 100 Book Challenge and AR. If your child reads their book and takes a test on it in the morning they will start to earn points towards AR incentives. This will start as soon as the children are entered into the AR database. Your child will not be required to do homework over the weekend.                                           

Your child will have lunch from 11:50-12:20. He or she will have PE Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of each week. Please send your child in sneakers for those three days. This concludes the fourteenth two week’s agenda.

Reading: We will also be testing the story: “A Fruit is a Suitcase for Seeds.” We will be discussing the characters and the setting for each story. Vocabulary – places, ground, first, tiny, animals, part, crowded, from, beautiful, and thirsty. (Tested on March 1st) Your child will need to be able to read these words and put them in sentences.

Math: We will be using tens and ones to compare numbers. We will be starting to add two digit numbers. We will learn how to represent numbers using those terms. Vocabulary- tens, ones, greater, less than, digit, and sum.

Writing: We will review capital letters to start sentences and punctuation to end them. We are starting to add more details to our sentences. We are also working on writing longer paragraphs with adjectives.

Social Studies: We will be talking about presidents. Vocabulary – holiday, George Washington, and Abraham Lincoln.

Reading: We will also be testing the story: “The Kite.” We will be discussing the characters and the setting for each story. Vocabulary – shout, ball, head, perhaps, should, never, laughter, meadow, try, and fly. (Tested on February 1st) Your child will need to be able to read these words and put them in sentences.

Math: We will be using tens and ones to compare numbers. We will learn how to represent numbers using those terms. Vocabulary- tens, ones, greater, less than, and digit.

Writing: We will review capital letters to start sentences and punctuation to end them. We are starting to add more details to our sentences. We are also working on writing longer paragraphs with adjectives.

Science: We will be talking about motion. Vocabulary- straight line, zigzag, back and forth, round and round.

They will have Spelling test on Friday February 1st on the following words: spoil, soil, choice, voice, point, cowboy, joy, oyster, toys, and destroy.

Vocabulary – warm, sound, their, extreme, cold, know, predict, rain, great, and play. (Tested on December 14th) Your child will need to be able to read these words and put them in sentences.

Math: We will be finishing and testing on relating counting to addition and subtraction within 20. Vocabulary- ten frame more, less, count on, double fact, fact family, add, equals, sum, difference, minus, and number line.

Writing: We will review capital letters to start sentences and punctuation to end them. We are starting to add more details to our sentences. We are also working on writing longer paragraphs with adjectives.

Science: We will be finishing and testing Earth’s natural resources. Vocabulary- natural resources, rock, and soil.
