 Dear MES Families,

I am excited to be joining the Memorial Elementary School Family! I have been in education over 15 years working as a teacher for 7 years and at the administrative level as a state and school administrator for the other years in grades K-12th. I started my education journey at the University of Oklahoma where I received my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education. I received my Masters of Education Degree from Southern Wesleyan University and completed my Education Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership at Nova Southeastern University. I’ve spent the last 4 years working as a K-8th principal in Lee County. I spent four years before that working as a state coordinator in the Office of Federal and State Accountability at the South Carolina Department of Education. As a state administrator I provided technical assistance and support to approximately 100 districts in the state of South Carolina and worked with superintendents, principals, teachers and other staff across the state to increase student achievement and ensure best practices in over 1,000 schools. Before being hired to the South Carolina Department of Education, I worked as an elementary school teacher in South Carolina and Oklahoma and served in a variety of teacher leader roles. My goal is to ensure that all students move to higher levels of achievement and towards readiness to compete academically, socially, and technologically, so that all students are career and college ready. I am looking forward to working with you and your child’s teachers to accomplish our school’s mission to empower students to become life-long learners and leaders, while providing a safe, challenging, nurturing and positive educational environment. At Memorial Elementary School student learning is the number one priority of our school and we believe that all children can learn. My experience as an educator, administrator, and teacher leader have given me a high degree of knowledge in multiple facets of education ranging from curriculum development in all subjects; professional development, teaching, and administration. My experience also includes teaching and working with many types of student populations, including but not limited to struggling learners, gifted and talented students, students with disabilities, and English learners.

I believe in using best practices that are scientifically research-based and proven by data analysis and review to be effective in increasing student achievement. I look forward to an amazing year and working closely with you, your child’s teacher, and your child to help every student reach their full potential and achieve academic success.
